A lightweight fibreglass Armatec manhole was used to replace a badly corroded and leaking 100 year old concrete manhole in Devonport, Auckland.
Outcome
The use of a factory built manhole ensured there were no leaks at joints, a major plus for the supervising engineers faced with large infiltration flows into the current ageing sewer network. The manhole's light weight meant it was able to be installed into a site with difficult access. The corrosion resistant fibreglass will give long life with minimal maintenance.
